The Bright Lights of the Thomas and Mack Center are shining bright on the Cornhusker cowboys over the weekend as 2 of our area bucking horse riders are making the Sandhills proud!
Mullen, Nebraska Bareback Rider Steven Dent layed back on Kesler Rodeos Uptown Flash in Round number 2 for 87 points to place second in the round pickup just over $20,000. Round 3 was another Paycheck for Dent as he picked up $15,000 on his way to a 3rd place finish on J Bar J Rodeos Former Horse of the Year Straight Jacket with 85.5 points. While he made the 8 Second Whistle in Round #4, Steven Dent was out of the money Stroking Bridwell Rodeos Wild and Blue to the Tune of 84 points. After 4 Rounds of rodeo, Steve is currently 3rd in the average and 6th in the World Standings. Not to mention, hanging tough at 5th in the PRCA All-Around Race.
When we talk about the classic event, the Saddle Bronc Riding, Elsmere phenom Cort Scheer is a force to be reckoned with at this years Wrangler NFR. In round 2, HiLo Rodeos Larry Culpepper took Scheer to a Round win with a High flying 92 point ride and another $26,000 paycheck and a trip to the Buckle Ceremony. Round 3 was the first time in this years Super Bowl of rodeo that Scheer was on the outside of the paycheck line. Scoring 85.5 on Pete Carr’s Cool Runnings. 78.5 put Cort back in the money in round 4 on Sankey’s Easter Bunny. As we reach the half way point tonight, Cort Scheer is gaining in the World Standings race for the title. While he jumped to 3rd after round 2, and dropped back to 4th while closing the gap to 40, 000, He is sitting solid in the drivers seat in the average which will play a huge part in this World Championship race and sitting in the number 4 spot of the Ram Top Gun Race for the most money earned in this years National Finals Rodeo.
