A controversial call late in the ballgame sealed the fate of the Broken Bow Senior Legion baseball team as they fell in heartbreaking fashion to Palmer-Walbach-Greely yesterday by the score of 6-5.
Broken Bow took a 3-1 lead in the top of the 4th with an rbi single by Sam Peterson and a two rbi double by Blake Denson. The bats continued in the top of the 6th as Broken Bow was able to push across two more runs with rbi singles from Clay Brandon and Riley Peterson.
Riley Peterson was on the mound and throwing a gem having just allowed one run with seven strikeouts. in the bottom of the sixth Peterson began to tire.
After walking in a run Isaac Dodge came into the ballgame with Broken Bow up 5-2.
With the bases loaded Ty Nekoliczak hit a ball down the third baseline, that appeared to land in foul territory, the umpire however called the ball fair and PWG scored two runs off the single. The next pitch got by Hunter Schnase and plated two more runs on the error to give PWG the 6-5 lead and ultimately the 6-5 win.
