ORD – A public hearing on the Voluntary Integrated Management Plan for the Lower Loup Natural Resources District has been set for 5:00 pm on March 24, 2016 at the NRD’s headquarters at 2620 Airport Drive in Ord. The LLNRD Board of Directors voted unanimously to move forward with the plan at their meeting on February 25.
The final draft of the plan is available for review on the NRD web site, www.llnrd.org. The plan was created after a series of meetings where water use stakeholders offered guidance and input in establishing elements of the plan. The Lower Loup NRD and the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) were assisted in creating the plan by Olsson Associates, a consulting firm from Lincoln.
The public hearing will allow those who wish to testify on the plan to have their comments entered into the record. A question and answer period will precede the public hearing and no questions will be allowed during the hearing itself.
An integrated management plan creates a foundation of data and tools to effectively manage water use and supply. It creates a framework for the sharing of data. It looks at the opportunities that exist to create a plan adaptable to changing conditions and it provides an avenue to receive local input regarding future water uses and needs.
