BROKEN BOW - The Kloset/My Kloset owner Shirley McGinn of Broken Bow was awarded the 2017 Third Congressional District- Nebraska Retail Champion by the Nebraska Retail Federation during a ceremony at her store on Thursday, June 15.

The award was presented by Nebraska Retail Federation president Jim Otto and State Senator Matt Williams.

Otto explains the purpose of the competition.

"We want to recognize how important local retailers are to the economy and how much to the local economy, to the local community. They pay local taxes, hire local people, contribute to countless activities in the community, and we just want to make that point," Otto said. "So, that's the reason for the Nebraska Retail Champion Competition and also the America's Retail Champion Competition."

Senator Williams nominated McGinn and her business for consideration.

McGinn comments on receiving the award.

"If it wasn't for the local support, I'd Be done. I mean, we do have customers that come from a long ways away, but the local support is what's important, and I couldn't do it without them," McGinn said. "I couldn't without the whole county. And I don't know what else to say except thank you everybody for supporting me. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the customers."

The award includes an expense paid trip to the 2017 Americas Retail Champion competition in Washington D.C, July 17-19, 2017 sponsored by the National Retail Federation.
